We use four types of closure on our Murano glass earrings: closed leverback, open hook, butterfly stud and clip-on. All are hypoallergenic and nickel free. The first three are for pierced ears; the clip-on is for unpierced ears.
Closed leverback
A curved hook that locks with a small spring lever at the back. It is the most secure fitting for drop earrings and will not slip out during the day.
Open hook (fish hook)
The classic open hook that passes through the lobe with no catch. Light and comfortable, ideal for small and medium drops.
Butterfly stud
A straight post held by a butterfly back behind the lobe. Used on stud earrings that sit close to the ear.
Clip-on
A pressure clip that holds the lobe without piercing. Suitable for unpierced ears.
Which one should I choose? For long or heavier drops choose the leverback; for a light look the open hook; for studs the butterfly; for unpierced ears the clip-on. Each product page lists the fittings available: if you would like a different one, contact us.
